Jessica Scherb represents individuals and businesses in a wide variety of estate planning and corporate transactions matters. Jessica was recognized as a “Rising Star” by New England Super Lawyers, Estate Planning & Probate, Mergers & Acquisitions each year from 2011 to 2019. In 2020, she authored a chapter in A Practical Guide to Probate in Maine. Drawing on a deep well of professional experience, Jessica regularly speaks on estate planning and trust and estate administration topics.
In her estate planning practice, Jessica skillfully and efficiently prepares wills, trust instruments, intra-family agreements, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, financial powers of attorney, health care directives, guardianship and conservatorship documents, and all types of related documents. Jessica helps clients ensure their loved ones are provided for, their assets are passed on in a thoughtful and orderly way, and taxes and administrative costs are minimized. She also represents birth parents and adoptive parents in both local and interstate adoptions.
In her corporate practice, Jessica provides succession planning advice to business owners, as well as representing them in mergers and acquisitions, shareholder matters, corporate finance, and private placements of securities. She also represents lenders and businesses in commercial lending matters.
In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, four young children, and dog – as well as running, hiking and camping. Dedicated to giving back to her community, Jessica serves on the board of both the Maine Estate Planning Council and the Women’s Board of Maine Medical Center, and volunteers her time to the German Shorthair Pointer Rescue of New England and the Gorham Schools.
